| For those of you who do not know what WOD is, it is Women of Distinction, a program provided by Bryn Mawr College that gets twenty young ladies ready for college. It followed the other session that lasted 3 weeks Writing for College. I had lots of fun, and I would definatly think about doingit another year. And for those of you who do not know, I LOVE BRYN MAWR, and I hope to be attending in the fall of 2007. Anyways, back to WOD. Today we went to the University of Penn, and then to Villanova, and I can honestly say that Bryn Mawr is still at the very top of my college list. I'll keep in touch.

| Today I went to a seminar on race, but some did not think that race is around anymore. This is a email I sent to my Uncle
Dear Uncle R******
Today we met with your mentor Mr. Anderson. I for one enjoyed the reading, and the opportunity to meet someone like him. All went well...until question time. Many of the girls (mainly white) thought that he was too harsh, and that he was talking about race through eyes that were still focused on the past. That times have changed, and he should adjust his writing to our time. But what they fail to realize is that he did his research during our time, and wrote it also in our time. I was upset at the attacks that they were placing upon his works. I believe that it is a natural reaction to out lash at those who bring up faults in our character, and looking at it from their point of view I see how his work could sting their pride. But he also addressed the people of color as well. Instead of thinking of an intelligent, young adult way to announce their views, they lashed out in blind defense, not thinking how ignorant their arguments would look when blasted at a professor who is prepared for anything that may arise. He had, as I would expect, answers ready for any range of questions. It was a pitiful display of 'B*** M*** brightest' trying to match minds with Mr. Anderson. They had three days to prepare their defense, and all they came up with was, "I know lots of blacks, and I always sit by them on a bus." I find this a very essential experience to prepare me for the real world, and it showed me that unprepared arguments never truly stand. We never want to hear the truth, and when we do we rally against it.

| Hello Xanga,
This is my first entry, and I haven't got a clue what to write about. This pretty much sucks that I'm writing on my free time, and I'm at a writing camp, lol. Well, I'm enjoying myself very much. I have made a friend, Jiezhen. She has been very kind to me, even though I have act more like a child than a teen, it's pretty funny. Hehe. I miss home, and I guess she misses home too, being like a billion miles away from Singapore. My mere 12 hour drive from Gorgia seems like nothing, compared to her 20 hour trip. We are very different, and we teach each other something everyday... ok maybe I learn something from her everyday, and she learns something from me every 3 days. The food here makes us crack jokes constantly. Especially about the pizza, we have it every day for lunch and dinner. "Not only are we having pizza, but pizza surprise. SURPRISE PIZZA AGAIN!!!" LOL. The other girls are fun as well, we are either laughing, eating icecream, reading, or writing. I really like it, especially the laughing.
Much love,
